Usher Biography: Although he was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia when he was 12. He was spotted by an executive of LaFace Records when he was competing in a local talent show at the age of 14. After an audition he was signed to a recording contract. His first album simply titled Usher was co-produced by Sean "Puffy" Combs. His first single "Think of You" went gold. This landed him an advertising spot for Coke. He was part of the group Black Men United who had a hit with "You Will Know" and he teamed with teen sensation Monica on "Let's Straighten It Out." After completing high school he released the album My Way, in 1997, on which he co-wrote several of the offerings. The single "You Make Me Wanna," topped the charts for 11 weeks and went platinum. He followed up with 2 more releases "Nice & Slow" and "My Way," which also went platinum. In 1999 he launched his acting career in The Faculty and Light It Up. He returned to recording with a concert offering titled Live in 1999 which he follwed up with All About U at the end of 2000. 8701 released in 2001 established him as a major R&B force in the music industry. His recording "Yeah" hit the top of the Billboard charts in March of 2004.
