The Righteous Brothers Biography: Although they weren't brothers, both Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield were born in 1941. The duo emerged from two regional groups the Paramours and the Variations. In fact, they released their first single as the Paramours. It was Medley who sang the rich baritone parts while Hatfiled filled in the tenor and falsetto notes. Their first hit "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" was produced by Phil Spector. The duo had a few more lesser hits sith Spector Just Once in My Life," "Unchained Melody," and "Ebb Tide" before leaving him to sign a lucrative deal with Verve. With Medley now acting as producer the group had another number 1 hit with "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration." The duo would only produce 2 more top 40 hits at Verve with "He" and "Go Ahead and Cry" before breaking up, Medley to pursue a solo career and Hatfiled to continue the Righteous Brother's tradition with new partner Jimmy Walker of the Knickerbockers. In 1974 Medley and Hatfiled reunited to record the number 3 hit "Rock and Roll Heaven." The duo continued touring on the oldies circuit throught the '80s and '90s until Bobby Hatfield died suddenly on November 5, 2003.
