P!nk Biography: Alecia Beth Moore grew up in a musical family. Her nickname P!nk was given to her as a child and has nothing to do with the color of her hair. By the age of 13 she had already become a regular on the local Philadelphia club scene as dancer and then as a backup singer for the local hip-hop group Schools of Thought. At 14 she joined the group Basic Instinct, but was back out on her own when the group broke up. She was quickly recruited into a female R&B trio called Choice which shortly thereafter also disbanded. While recording with Choice producer Daryl Simmons asked her to write a bridge for the song "Just to Be Loving You." He was so impressed with the results that she soon had a record deal with LaFace Records. P!nk cut her first album Can't Take Me Home which was released in 2000 and went double platinum. It included 3 hit singles "There U Go," "Most Girls," and "You Make Me Sick." After a summer tour opening for 'N Sync she took part, along with Christina Aguilera, Mya, and Lil' Kim, in the remake of Patti LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade" for the movie Moulin Rouge. The song went straight to the top of the charts. Her next single "Get the Party Started" proved to be her biggest hit so far. Her next album M!ssundaztood also went double platinum.
