Patti Page Biography: Clara Ann Fowler began her professional singing career at a local radio station in Tulsa Oklahoma. She was billed as Patti Page for a Page Milk special and she liked the name enough to adopt it as her own. She toured the country with a country band headed by Jimmy Joy which helped her garner a recording contract with Mercury Records in 1947. That same year she had her first hit single "Confess." She became the first pop artist to overdub harmonies singing with herself. In 1950 she had her first million seller "With My Eyes Wide Open I'm Dreaming." Later that year "All My Love" became her first chart topper and her signature song "The Tennessee Waltz" stayed on top of the charts for months. The years 1952, 53 brought 2 more number 1 hits "I Went to Your Wedding" and "The Doggie in the Window." In the mid '50s she had her own TV show The Patti Page Show. Even though the rock era was already in full swing in 1956 she still produced 2 more major hits "Allegheny Moon" and "Old Cape Cod." She ended her recording career in 1968, but continued performing into the '90s.
