Started: November 9, 1973 City and Country of Origin: Harlan, Kentucky Music Background: Cincinnati's School for Creative and Performing Arts Awards: Top Recordings: "This I Swear," "Shut Up," Nick Lachey Biography: Nicholas Scott Lachey was born to German American parents near the Kentucky and Tennessee border. While studying sports medicine at Miami of Ohio University he answered his calling when he left with some of his SCPA friends for Los Angeles. There he along with his brother Drew, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre formed the boy band 98 Degrees in 1997. They hit number 14 on the charts with their second album 98 Degrees and Rising. The band set out on nationwide tour along with a young female singer Jessica Simpson. After an on again off again 4 year courtship the couple married. Meanwhile their music careers were not going well and Jessica's father Joe came up witht he idea of a television show about the couple called Newlyweds. The show premiered on MTV in August 0f 2003 and the show achieved the desired effect with both artist's floundering careers took off. In NOvember of 2003 Nick released his new first solo album SoulO. Despite the success of the TV show the album received poor reviews and sales were sluggish. He released 2 singles from the album "This I Swear" and "Shut Up." While the Newlyweds was running Nick appeared in the films Bewitched and The Hard Easy, as well as making a guest appearance on the TV hit Charmed. In May of 2006 he releassed the album What's Left of Me. The couple separated in NOvember of 1995. |
