Marc Anthony Biography: Marco Antonio Muńiz was born to Puerto Rican parents Felipe Muńiz and Guillermina in New York City who named him after a Mexican singer. He started his career as a session vocalist for pop and dance acts. After he changed his name he worked as a songwriter for acts like Menudo and the Latin Rascals. His first solo release was for the Bronx based record label Bulldog Records in 1988 and defined him as one of the best vocalists in Freestyle music. He spent most of his early years writing and producing records for other Freestyle artists like Sa-Fire, and singing backup for artists like Ann-Marie and Edmund. During this time he often worked with Freestyle producer Little Louie Vega. In 1992, he and Vega opened for Tito Puento at Madison Square Garden.

Under the influence of artists like Rubén Blades and Juan Gabriel he switched his musical style to Salsa and made his Spanish-language debut with Otra nota, in 1993 which included the salsamonga hit "Hasta que te conoci." After this he spent time touring the Americas at one point opening for Rubén Blades. In 1995 his album Todo a su tiempo was nominated for a Grammy and contined songs like "Te Conozco Bien," Hasta Ayer," Nadie Como Ella," "Se Me Sigue Olvidando," "Te Amare," and "Llegaste A Mi." His follow up Contra la corriente promoted by a sell-out concert at Madison Square Garden won a Grammy in 1999. He then recorded the duet "No Me Ames", with Jennifer Lopez on her album On the 6.

Later in 1999 he tried to emulate the crossover success of J.Lo with a self titled English-language Latin Pop album which contained the top 5 hit "I Need to Know," "When I Dream At Night" and "My Baby You". 2001's salsa album Libre featured was ceritified gold and included "Celos," "Barco A La Deriva," "Este Loco Que Te Mira" and "Viviendo." The following year he once again tried his luck in the English market Mended with songs like "I've Got You," "I Need You," "Tragedy," "Love Won't Get Any Better" and "She Mends Me."

In 2004 his marriage to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres ended in divorce. Less than a week after the divorce was finalized he married Jennifer Lopez. The same month he released the Latin pop album Amar Sin Mentiras which he would convert into a salsa album Valio La Pena the following month. As well as his successful singing career Marc has also appeared in a number of films including: Carlito's Way, Natural Causes, Hackers, Big Night, Runaway Bride, Bringing Out the Dead, In the Time of the Butterflies and Man on Fire.
