Julio Iglesias Biography: Julio Iglesias de la Cueva is Spain's all time best selling recording artist. The son of Dr. Julio Iglesias Sr. he played goal for professional football team Real Madrid while attending law school. An accident curtailed his soccer career, but afforded him th eopportunity to start writing songs. Shortly thereafter he received his law degree from Cambridge.

After winning the 1968 Benidorm International Song Festival in Spain he signed a recording contract with Columbia Records Latin music label, Discos Columbia. His first recording was "Gwendolyne" a song he finished fourth with in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970. He married the Spanish-mestiza Philippine socialite Isabel Preysler with whom he had 3 children; Washington DC news reporter Chabeli Iglesias, singer Enrique Iglesias and model and up and coming singer Julio José Iglesias. During the 70s he and his family were often pictured on th ecover of international publications.

In 1978 he signed on with CBS International adding English, French, Portuguese, German and Italian to his singing repertoire. His first English hit on the label was "Begin the Beguine." He released the album 1100 Bel Air Place in 1984 which featured the duets with Willie Nelson on "To All The Girls I've Loved Before" and "All of You" with Diana Ross. The album sold 3 million copies in the U.S. alone and reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 albums. After he had divorced his wife his father was kidnaped but found alive and well 2 weeks later. This led Julio to move his family into a mansion in Miami Beach, Florida.

In 1988 he won a Grammy for the album Un Hombre Solo and recorded a duet with Stevie Wonder on "My Love" a single on his Non Stop album. During this time he toured the world becoming an international sex symbol amongst the ladies. In 1996 he returned to his Spanish roots recording a CD named Tango. The artist is currently working on his next project an English album entitled Romantic Classics.
