John Mayer Biography: Alan Eugene Jackson is an American country music singer and songwriter, who became one of the best-selling country musicians of the 1990s. He is th eson of Eugene Jackson and Ruth Musick.

John Clayton Mayer is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He was born in Bridgeport and grew up in Fairfield Connecticut, where he attended high school, after 2 semesters at Berklee College of Music, in Boston, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1998. There he refined his skills, playing in a 2 man band, LoFi Masters, along with former college friend Clay Cook, and began gaining a following. The duo split up over musical differences and Mayer began his solo career. His first two studio albums, Room for Squares and Heavier Things, both did well commercially, going multi-platinum. Additionally, in 2003, he won a Best Male Pop Vocal Performance Grammy for his signature song, "Your Body Is a Wonderland."

After first performing mainly acoustic rock, Mayer made a transition towards the blues genre, in 2005, by collaborating with renowned blues artists such as BB King and ultimately forming the John Mayer Trio. The blues influence can also be seen on his album Continuum, released in September 2006. Mayer won Best Pop Vocal Album for Continuum and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change" at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in February 2007.

Mayer's other interests include stand-up comedy, design, and writing; he has written pieces for several magazines, most notably for Esquire. He is also involved in charity through his "Back to You" fund and his efforts in averting man-made global climate change.
