Eminem Biography: Marshall Bruce Mathers III spent his youth moving back and forth between St. Jo and Detroit, Michigan. He put his early interest rap to practical use when he started performing at the age of 14. His wife Kim gave birth to their daughter in 1995. That year he released his first album Infinite and followed it up in 97 with Slim Shady which eventually went triple platinum. Some of the albums lyrics created a great deal of controversy. In 2000 he released the Marshall Mathers album which immediately sold 2 million copies. The album was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year. To help clean the air caused by his seemingly racy lyrics about women and homosexuals he perofrmed on stage at the Grammys with gay performer Elton John, hugging him on stage afterwards.

In spite of his efforts controversy continued to follow the fair haired rapper every where he went. In 2004 he released Encore which reached the top of the British weekly charts in only 3 days after its release.
