When her parents divorced her mother took her and her younger sister Rachel to her grandmother's home in Rochester, Pennsylvania, a blue-collar suburb of Pittsburgh where she spent her early years. There she was often found singing the national anthem before Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey games, Pittsburgh Steelers football and Pittsburgh Pirates baseball games. She started in television at a young age appearing on shows like The Mickey Mouse Club.
