Celine Dion Biography: Blessed with a magnificent voice Celine was born into a musical family. Her mother played the violin and her father played the accordion at the families piano bar in the city. Her brothers and sisters sang and waited tables as did she from the age of 5. At 12 she told her parents that she wanted to become a professional singer. Her parents took her to see one of the most famous managers in Montreal, René Angélil. He was so moved by the young Celine's voice that he cried at the audition. He mortgaged his house to pay to record her first album The Colour Of My Love.

After seeing Michael Jackson at the age of 18 she told René that she wanted to be a star the magnitude of Michael. This would require a physical transformation for young Celine's gift was her voice and not her natural beauty. In fact, as a result of her pertruding incisors she was dubbed "Canine Dion" by a Quebec humor magazine. Her hair was coifed, her eyebrows plucked and her teeth capped. The results were almost immediate.

In 1990 her album, Unison, on Epic Records was released in the U.S. and resulted in several hit singles including the theme from Beauty and The Beast a duet with Peabo Bryson which became her breakthrough record. In 1994 she wed her manager, René Angélil, who was 26 years her elder. She reached even a higher level of stardom with the release of her album Falling Into You. It won Grammys for both Album of the Year and Best Pop Album. In 1996 she performed at the opening of the Atlanta Olympic Games. The following year she recorded the theme song for James Cameron's blockbuster movie Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On." One of the hardest workers in the business she finally took a well earned sabbatical in 1999.
