Bobby Vinton biography: Stanley Robert Vinton is the second all time singing sensation to come out of Canonsburg, PA. The first being Perry Como, and Bobby would become to the 60s just what Como had been to the 50s, the decades leading crooner.

The "Polish Prince" as he was often referred to because of Polish heritage, Bobby was the son of bandleader Stan Vinton. He first played trumpet in his high school band before becoming the groups vocalist. He formed his first band at the age of 16, performing at clubs in the Pittsburg area. He used the money he earned to help finance his college education at Duquesne University.

While attending college he became proficient on all the instruments in the band: piano, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, drums and the oboe. After serving in the army he appeared with his band on Guy Lombardo's TV Talent Scouts which earned him a 4 week-contract on that show. This helped him garner a recording contract with Epic Records. His first hit "Roses Are Red (My Love)" rose to number 1 on the charts and helped launch his exceptional music career. During his career he would earn over a dozen gold records and sell over 75 million records. During the 70s he hosted his own variety television show on CBS. Today you can still catch his act at the Bobby Vinton Blue Velvet Theatre in Branson, Missouri.
