Ashlee Nicole Simpson Biography: The younger sister of pop recording star Jessica Simpson Ashlee rose to prominence in 2004 with the release of her number 1 album Autobiography and the accompanying reality series The Ashlee Simpson Show. She was raised in the suburb Richardson by her parents Baptist youth minister Joe Truett Simpson and Sunday School teacher Tina Ann Drew. When her sister landed a record deal the family packed up and moved to Los Angeles. While living on the coast Ashlee began appearing in TV commercials, and as an accomplished dancer made her entertainment debut as a backup dancer for her sister Jessica.

Shortly thereafter she began making appearances in films and on television including Malcolm in the Middle in 2001, the flick The Hot Chick and as a regular on 7th Heaven. After a stint as an MTV VJ she was signed to a record deal by Geffen Records. Her first album Autobiography debuted at number 1. The pre-released single from the album "Pieces of Me," was the biggest hit of the summer in the U.S. Her follow ups "Shadow" and "La La" did not fare as well. As well as her own TV show she also appeared from time to time on her sisters show the Newlyweds and sang a duet with her sister "The Christmas Song" and "Little Drummer Boy" for the album Rejoyce. She co-hosted the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve along with Regis Philbin to closeout the year. In October of 2004 she became the butt of every comedians jokes when she was caught lipsynching to the wrong pre-recorded track while appearing on Saturday Night Live.

She started the new year off performing "La La" during the halftime show for the Orange Bowl in Maimi on January 4, 2005. With the SNL snafu still fresh in everybody's mind the crowd booed. She appeared on the February cover of Cosmoplitan. Her second album, I Am Me, was released in the U.S. on October 18, 2005. It also debuted at number 1 on the charts. The singles "Boyfriend" and "L.O.V.E." both broke into the top 40.
